So what can vacation rental managers do to take advantage of this? I've got one idea. You need to make sure that your vacation rental listings on your website can be individually found by the search engines. Some software companies offer online reservation functionality which appears to work fine for humans BUT not for search engines. In other words, maybe your home page can be found when I search online but can I find "Unit#20 - Cabin by the Sea" on Google or Bing? Bill, I like where you're going with this and I agree that search 3.0 is the future.

Of course you will have your major players, like Google and MSN, but these corporate mega structures will not be able to compete in every segment. Smaller, niche portals will add relevant, timely content the big players just won't have.
